On Monday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins hosted the New Jersey Devils on “Hockey Fights Cancer Night”, and what a night it turned out to be for former Manchester Monarch Brian Boyle.
Many of you are aware that Brian, who plays for the Devils, was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia in 2017. He played last year through his treatment and just last week he found out that he is in remission.
That’s already a great story, but it gets better. On “Hockey Fights Cancer Night” who else but Brian Boyle scored three goals to record his first career hat trick. You just can’t make this stuff up.
Brian is one of the classiest guys you’ll ever meet. His New England roots are strong – he grew up in Hingham, went to high school in Needham, played for Boston College and the Manchester Monarchs.
He’s a warrior, and the best sports story you’ll hear this week.
